Tony Lockerbie - The photographer
Weddings
Having such vast experience allows me to keep the bride and groom relaxed and stress free while producing the best possible images. As most weddings in this area take place on our beautiful coastline, my intimate knowledge of the area it of great advantage and I am happy to help couples choose a site for the ceremony. I can tailor my coverage to suit any needs, whether it is only two people or two hundred.
Prices vary according to needs and time spent so it is best to contact me to discuss this.
General
Sometimes, as in this photo in East Gippsland I travel the day before and camp out near where I plan to take the shots. Trudging along a beach or across a cliff top in the dark before dawn, carrying tripods, camera gear, film, water and a muesli bar for breakfast can have its challenges but it is all part of the experience of photography I love. When I reach the spot where I will take my photos I set up and then wait.
It is always a great joy to see the light slowly push the night sky away and reveal to me the rewards for my efforts. There is a stillness and calm in the first light of each new day, as if everything in nature is pausing before beginning the more robust undertakings that later await. I love the solitude of these moments as the pristine sand, water and rocks are all shown anew while still maintaining their timeless quality.
I often take several photos beginning with the cool blue tones of the passing night, moving to warmer tones with the rising of the sun. As the light grows I watch and shoot the new formations revealing themself from the shadows. Even in places I know very well, each morning brings fresh delight as the space around me grows and the new day is seen.
I have been a photographer for 35 years and have always been drawn towards the landscape. As I have mellowed in age, so has my photography become simpler in content and I now focus on a more minimalist style. Although I take many landscapes in colour I have always been a devotee of black and white as this medium breaks the image down to the shapes, tones and textures that I am drawn to.
